Creating broadcasts
Broadcasts are 1-to-many messages that can be prescheduled to channels or individual contact DMs.
| Status | Definition |
|---|---|
| Draft | Broadcasts that won’t be delivered; use for work-in-progress broadcasts |
| Scheduled | Broadcasts that are queued for delivery and a scheduled date |
Channel broadcasts
Channel broadcasts are the default broadcast type and are posted as new
threads in channels. Engagement and analytics can be tracked for channel
broadcasts.
| # | Instructions |
|---|---|
| 1 | Go to Broadcasts and select New broadcast. |
| 2 | To send a broadcast to channels, use Channel post in the Message type field. This should be the default option already selected. |
| 3 | Update a Sender by selecting a user in the Send from field. This will default to yourself when you make new broadcasts. |
| 4 | Select channels under the Deliver to field. If you have a large number of channels, you can use additional filters to select and choose channels to target. |
| 5 | After composing your broadcast, schedule it and name your broadcast. If needed, keep your broadcast in Draft status to prevent it from being sent out until you’re ready. |
Member broadcasts
Member broadcasts are 1-to-many DM messages that can be sent to channel
contacts. For Slack privacy reasons (reading DMs), engagement analytics are
not tracked for member broadcasts.
| # | Instructions |
|---|---|
| 1 | Go to Broadcasts and select New broadcast. |
| 2 | To send a broadcast to channels, use Member DM in the Message type field. |
| 3 | Select contacts under the Deliver to field. |
| 4 | After composing your broadcast, schedule it and name your broadcast. If needed, keep your broadcast in Draft status to prevent it from being sent out until you’re ready. |
